Another price cut by RIM for tablet

29 Sep

Hello consumers,

We’d better wait and see what us going on in this tablet market after Amazon’s debut at $199 with “Kindle Fire”, which will be sold in mid. of Nov. Before it does actually start to sell, another sore manufacturer against Apple (RIM) just cuts the price at $299, which is compatible with Apple’s iPad. Maybe, sooner or later Motorola (purchased by Google), Samsung and Microsoft will jump into this price cutting trend to boost up their sales against Apple’s iPad, which has seriously dominated the market as front-runner. Who else join this trend soon? Maybe, small & medium sized manufacturers will join there to get a certain market share. Through this, I want to see Apple’s attitude change from arrogant to humble mode again.

In smartphone market, Samsung has started with LTE (4G) version with high speed against Apple with fancy design & huge apps, that does still go with 3G. Once Apple launches new version of iPhone (it will be named as iPhone 5 or iPhone 4 plus) in Oct/Nov., we may see seriously fierce war between Apple and Samsung. Besides that, Samsung and Apple filed a law suit for patent violation in several places. It will be another interesting battle between 2 giant players. Meanwhile, as of yesterday Microsoft and Samsung has agreed to have cross licensing for mobile market with the consent of paying some percentage of royalty for MS’s patent. Experts mentioned though Samsung has to pay some percentage of royalty to MS, it will be another big agreement for Samsung and MS, which will be “win-win” situation against mutual enemy “Apple”.

Anyway, things in the market are getting heated and competition will be getting severe. It means there is no one player’s domination in the market or more difficult to dominate the market. Once Apple empire will be tore down a little bit like MS, as a consumer everything moves forward for customers’ side in terms of price, service and attitude, which would be desirable for most of us.

Welcome on Amazon’s new tablet at $199 (Kindle Fire)

28 Sep

Today Amazon has announced their version of new tablet, called “Kindle Fire” at $199, which will be in the market soon. Experts mentioned that Amazon’s Kindle Fire would be a real competitor against Apple’s iPad because  Amazon 1) is strong front runner in online market 2) has ebooks, online music and apps. 3) has huge price advantage.

Away from other competitors like HP, Samsung, Motorola and etc, Amazon can get other revenue through online usage by Kindle Fire. That’s why Amazon can reduce the price dramatically. Maybe, other competitors will see and follow their price strategy soon, which will be another good point for the normal customers.

After several years’ controlling smartphone & smart pad market, Apple is going to be arrogant and cranky in terms of service and price. It seems like Microsoft’s pattern in the last 20+ years, which I do not like. To me, it’s the right timing for another strong competitor to show up in the smart IT market and give a certain tension to Apple. Then, this way of driving will lead Apple to move forward on the right direction ; continuous innovation + good service & price. That’s what we are expecting from Apple and other giant IT players.

Hope Amazon’s move will drive the market in positive way, along with other competitors.
